It\u2019s the most Tesla has ever sold in a quarter (and for some added perspective, the company\u00a0sold 367,500 in all of 2019).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The company delivered more vehicles once again, even though significant automakers saw huge drops this past quarter. General Motors, the largest automaker in the US, said\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.freep.com\/story\/money\/cars\/general-motors\/2021\/10\/01\/gm-sales-chip-shortage-suv\/5934699001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Friday morning<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0that it only sold 446,997 vehicles in the third quarter \u2014 a 33 per cent drop from the same period last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vmware.com\/content\/dam\/digitalmarketing\/vmware\/en\/pdf\/whitepaper\/vmware-product-security-white-paper.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15918 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/autoscommunity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/241692030_23848583733090245_5149906922159277606_n.jpg\" alt=\"Advertisement\" width=\"526\" height=\"526\" srcset=\"https:\/\/autoscommunity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/241692030_23848583733090245_5149906922159277606_n.jpg 526w, https:\/\/autoscommunity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/241692030_23848583733090245_5149906922159277606_n-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/autoscommunity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/241692030_23848583733090245_5149906922159277606_n-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 526px) 100vw, 526px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Tesla has avoided similar problems because it has been\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">sourcing different semiconductors and rewriting software on the fly<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0to make those chips work in place of the ones not currently available. Beyond that, the company continues to see strong sales in China, where it started making and selling vehicles in early 2020. The Model Y SUV has also become a popular option in the United States, and Tesla\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/08\/23\/tesla-tsla-starts-model-y-deliveries-europe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">just started selling them in Europe, too<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.toyota.ae\/en\/offers\/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw8p2MBhCiARIsADDUFVEsc2zXXPpkchIbOeS2aIUu89NfMyfD9FTZS2EhccmJ4y6808Kk-zIaAt1fEALw_wcB&amp;gclsrc=aw.ds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15916 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/autoscommunity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/httpswww.toyota.aeenoffersexpo.jpg\" alt=\"Advertisement\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/autoscommunity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/httpswww.toyota.aeenoffersexpo.jpg 540w, https:\/\/autoscommunity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/httpswww.toyota.aeenoffersexpo-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Even more, production is set to come online in the coming months, too, as Tesla has built an enormous part of its factory in Austin, Texas and is finally making it through some of the last approvals to start operating its new plant outside Berlin, Germany.
