Robert Downey Jr. Transforms Classic Cars into E-vehicles in ‘Downey’s Dream Cars’

While Robert Downey Jr. is best known for his award-winning acting and producer career, he also avidly addresses climate change via scalable technologies that help restore the planet. Downey will combine this passion with classic car restorations to create eco-friendly automobiles.

In Downey’s Dream Cars, Downey and a team of experts restore six of his prized classic cars to make them more eco-friendly, updating them into the new millennium while preserving the power and style that made these vintage automobiles so legendary.

Downey also investigates the future of mobility in the series, seeking guidance from some of the most brilliant minds working today to imagine the next era of personal transportation and automotive innovation.

 “We are what we drive, and having amassed a formidable collection of classic cars over the years, I was a petrol-spewing mess. And a hypocrite, as I’d founded the Footprint Coalition in 2019 to scale technologies that mitigate climate change. Fortunately, I’m a bit of a dreamer. The last three years have been an experiment in hope as I engaged the best and brightest minds to evaluate, educate, elevate, and decarbonise these vehicles in a way that demonstrates the limitless potential of creative problem-solving. It was a huge challenge and an enlightening journey,” says Downey.

 A production by Warner Bros. Discovery, Boat Rocker’s Matador Content, and Team Downey, Downey’s Dream Cars will be available for streaming in the MENA region via the Discovery+ library of STC TV and STARZPLAY with a two-episode release every Thursday between June 22 and July 6.
