Renowned Automotive Pre-war Specialist Evan Ide Joins RM Sotheby’s

RM Sotheby’s is thrilled to welcome pre-war specialist Evan Ide to its global team of specialists. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Ide is recognized worldwide as a leading authority in early classic cars, a level of expertise that will significantly benefit the hobby and our clients.

Holding an honours degree in fine art from the University of New Hampshire, Ide’s impressive career includes roles as Curator of the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, Massachusetts, and author of several automotive books and publications, including a contribution to “The Stewardship of Historically Important Automobiles.”

He advises several significant museum collections and has been a guest lecturer at prestigious venues, including the Royal Automobile Club, the Blackhawk Museum, and the Simeone Foundation.

As an automotive historian, author, and restorer, coming most recently from Bonhams, Ide’s unique and knowledgeable perspective has been highly valued within the collecting hobby for years.

He has served in various advisory roles, including on the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance selection committee. Ide’s restoration and conservation work focuses on pre-WWI automobiles, and many projects have earned top accolades at Concours events globally.
