Tory Number Plate up for Grabs for £1.6m
A private car registration number, marketed as the perfect plate for a devoted Conservative in the run-up to the UK election, is up for grabs for a whopping £1.6m.
The plate, TOR13S, is being offered for sale at Absolute Reg, but the asking price of £1,625,065 might be enough to put most potential buyers off – unless they have pockets as deep as Rishi Sunak’s.
Any dedicated and sufficiently well-heeled Conservative supporter who might be tempted will also have to fork out a transfer fee of £80 to the DVLA, taking the total purchase price to a cool £1,625,145.
If the number plate is sold for the full asking price, it would be the most expensive in the UK.
Jake Smith, from Absolute Reg, who is offering the plate for sale, said it had been hoped the General Election might spike interest.
Mr Smith said: “This is a fun plate which would look perfect on the car of a devoted true blue Conservative Party member or voter.
“For the right person, this ticks all the boxes of being exclusive and fun. I could picture it on a Rolls or a Bentley, but it wouldn’t be for everyone.
“We’re hoping the General Election might spike some interest. It would look brilliant on Rishi’s battle bus, so we could strike a deal if he wants to get in touch.”
